The GOLDEN OIL Mosimi-Ore pipeline system, Ore Pump station and depot, shut down since 1998 as a result of pipeline vandalism, came alive on Saturday, 24th June, 2006 when President Olusegun Obasanjo commissioned it after its successful rehabilitation by the corporation.
The 151-kilometre pipeline system, which delivers petroleum products (petrol, kerosene and diesel) to the Ore Depot, which itself services Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Osun states, and part of Kogi state, was extensively vandalized at over 400 points, thereby compromising the safety of the line and necessitating its shut down. The Depot was rehabilitated by Messrs Zachem Construction Nigeria Limited, whose scope of work included hydro testing, complete replacement of 42 kilometres of vanderlized portions, patch-welding of other isolated vandalized points, installation Of cathodic protection system, etc; the systems activation will make products more readily available in the States serviced by Ore Depot, enhance employment in the area and energize small businesses, amongst others.
